Students lives will be enriched in many ways using our aquaponics system. Engagement in the classroom will increase because students will enjoy learning using aquaponics. The aquaponics system will make learning STEM concepts easy and attainable for all students. Students will be able to SEE themselves succeed by caring for the fish and plants. The aquaponics system also will allow for teaching to occur in a year round fashion. It will become a year long project that will be used to teach multiple topics, standards, skills and objectives. Application of knowledge learned will be achieved for all students. Students, parents and teacher will benefit from the aquaponics system. Students will gain interest from parents through discussions at home. When students love what they are learning, they share their learning experiences with their friends and family. Also, when students love learning, they build relationships with educators that are strong and fulfilling. In addition, students will learn the rewards of caring for living organisms. This leads to greater social responsibility as well as pride. Many students do not have these experiences and will benefit from watching organisms grow and thrive under their care and attention. Finally, and possibly most importantly, students will gain practical, applicable knowledge. Growing food is a life skill, and aquaponics is a career ready skill. Agriculture is changing, and aquaponics is at the forefront of that change. Aquaponics is a flourishing field of the future that students will have the opportunity to explore today!
