LAMP (Language Acquisition Motor Planning) Words for Life is a therapeutic approach using motor learning principles and a voice output communication device to give non-verbal individuals with autism and other individuals with developmental disabilities a method to develop independent and spontaneous communication. With a new Apple Ipad, LAMP can be downloaded and give students access to core words on a speech generating device. Accessing each word on the Ipad with a consistent, unique motor planning with auditory feedback provides a means for developing independent communication. Students can use the Ipad to communicate wants and needs, talk to peers and participate in class. Students using LAMP Words for life gain independence and most importantly language.
