My students are passionate, hard-working, creative young people, who come from low-income families. Most students are bilingual and children of immigrants-- or immigrants themselves. They face many educational obstacles, yet choose to come to our school, which demands personal excellence, through hard work, punctuality, kindness, and perseverance. The students learn to ask for help and take ownership of their education through independent projects, tutorials, and extracurricular learning opportunities. When they leave our middle school, they must take responsibility for continuing to live the school motto and for finding the best educational opportunities possible, often at private or charter high schools. Our mission through the four years of middle school, is to help them develop strong characters and the ability to strive for their highest possible educational goals.
