Many of my choir students are just starting their journeys as singers. Part of that journey is learning to sing with good technique and gaining an appreciation for music of other cultures and time periods. These books all support the goal of developing the singing voice and music of other cultures, each a different and unique way. Having easy access to a library of quality vocal literature makes singing at a high level achievable to more students, who otherwise would be unable to access such resources. These books in particular focus on building fundamental skills in beginning singers. "Gateway to German Lieder" for example, not only provides a wonderful selection of songs, but also with translations, pronunciations, and historical information about each piece and composer. A wonderful and well rounded first step for a singer! They will not only use these books in festivals and competitions, but also on a daily basis.
