My students are focusing on reading, comprehension and writing skills this semester in Honors Spanish Immersion II. This particular class is for Native or Heritage Spanish speakers, so I try to find literature that is relatable and interesting to them. In addition, their education levels vary and this book can be broken down for beginners or materials can be added to make working through it more difficult for our advanced students. Through this book, students will be able to enhance their current skills and hopefully become more open to the wonderful world of reading. In addition, they will be able to learn more about Mexican culture and more about each other as some stories in this book are similar to their own. Overall our main goal is to ensure they can read, comprehend, write and discuss the themes in this book. The skills they will gain will help them in high school and beyond.
