As a history teacher, I value the ability to evaluate primary and secondary sources. We look at books, text, and photos to determine meaning, establish context, and interpret events of the past. Too often though, people tend to focus on what you can read or see. I plan to use this speaker to engage my students in listening to, evaluating, and interpreting history told through the stories of Music. One such example is listening to and evaluating Fort Minor's "Kenji" when discussing Japanese internment or using parts of Lin Manuel Miranda's "Hamilton" play to discuss the political conflict between the Federalists and anti-Federalists.
