Learning to play basketball involves dribbling, throwing, catching, and pivoting. Young children who play basketball improve flexibility and endurance. They also benefit from improved fine motor skills, such as hand-eye coordination. These important motor skills transfer to other activities of daily life, but in order for this to happen, my students need more basketballs! Learning the basic fundamentals of basketball is a great place for kids to begin their love for sports. Playing basketball at a young age not only increases cardiovascular activity but also serves as a foundation in staying active later in life. Children also learn the importance of following rules, self-discipline, taking risks, and team work while developing a competitive spirit.
