Imagine walking into a classroom and realizing that it was a safe place. Imagine walking in and seeing endless options to how you can learn. In my classroom, most of my students live in homes that are deemed unsafe and option less. It is my goal that all my students feel safe in my class while learning. Giving students flexible seating; allowing them to choose where they learn gives them a choice to take control of their learning. Flexible seating lets my students make their own choices. This is important for my demographic of students because they do not always get to choose things in their lives due to the environment they are growing up in. Many of my students have no choice but, to raise their siblings and put dinner on the table at their young age. It is my hope that with flexible seating, allowing them to choose their seat for themselves will empower them to want to learn all they can in my class!
