I am one clinician in the pupil personnel division of Greenburgh Academy which is an entirely special needs school, housed in a modest, older Catholic School building. Our collective space is minimal in color and design as well as student or staff resources. It is comprised of a few student desks that are not comfortable seating for many students, an old fax machine, and, one of three staff copy machines in the school. Nothing about this space as of current reflects a student place of conglomerate personal growth and the multitude of triumphs of these youngsters coming from/with significant adversities. The energy of a devoted team of multi-disciplinary clinicians who are constantly availing themselves to students as well as their families and/or other outside constituents lend to light beyond the physical environment and possibilities beyond the low-ceilings, of this sub-level division of Pupil Personnel Services.
