Students will use this listening center to read novels in a small group setting, while simultaneously listening to the audio book version. This two-pronged strategy greatly increases comprehension, and allows students to interact with one another during and after reading. They will be able to respond to the story in real time, and see the reactions of the peers. Their first novel will be 'Out of My Mind', a story about a physically disabled girl who rose above the meager expectations of her peers and teachers, and achieved the impossible. Students will get to experience an inspirational story about a young person overcoming challenges very similar to their own. Please help me provide this wonderful opportunity to these very deserving students. This listening center will continue to be a source of enrichment for students for many years to come. Thank you for considering this project.
