Flexible seating allows students to make choices about where they will work and learn best. During independent and small group work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. My students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting on the floor in the Reading Corner. I have noticed that when students are more comfortable, they enjoy learning more. Students are also more motivated as a learner when they are provided choices. The Hokki stools that I have selected will provide another seating option for my students. These stools will allow students to sit at our higher tables and will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for the students that need to wiggle while they work! They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed. They are lightweight and can be easily moved to many areas of the classroom. I have seen how movement while learning engages students and positively affects their learning. I hope this new seating option will help us continue to focus and reach our goals!
