The materials desired will make a huge impact in the way my students learn mathematics. A new problem based curriculum is being adopted in our county this year and it requires some materials that are not readily available in my classroom or our school. Problem based learning allows students to prep for their future beyond the 7th grade math classroom. It allows for problem solving, teamwork, and self-motivation. The problem based program makes many connections to other subjects areas, mainly science. Connections between math and science are extremely valuable to prep my students for their future careers. The post its and chart paper will allow for group collaboration. Snap cubes, protractors, patty paper, and other materials will be readily available for students to use as they feel fit, increasing their problem solving abilities. The trundle wheels and stop watches will link to the STEM field making connections to science.
