In the STEM program, we work with concepts form Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. When parents ask what the STEM program is I explain to them that its the shop class of the 21st century. In STEM the use of a 3D printer would cover each aspect of the STEM program. In the use of technology, the students would be using 3D printing software covering the Technology aspect of the class. Students would be asked to find something that needed to be fixed and to design something to fix the problem. In the process of designing their solution, they will be using the Scientific Method. Finally, in the process of designing their solution, they will need to use math and measurements to make sure their solution to the problem will fit. Also through the STEM program, students will be able to utilize the 3D technology to make kinesthetic connections that will increase their knowledge and confidence in their core subjects.
