One area of need in my classroom is for the students to be able to move while learning. Their current seating options do not allow for them to maneuver as needed. By having multiple options for the students to choose from, their learning environment will be enhanced. My students love working at their desks, my teacher table and the different center tables I have in the classroom. But, each of the working areas in my classroom are limited to one seating option, which can be a hindrance to my students. Research has shown providing flexible seating options improves students engagement, communication, and overall performance in a classroom setting. By incorporating options such as the wobble chairs and balance balls, my students will be given the opportunity to move, balance, focus, and listen during instructional time. In addition, each seating option will also give my students a multitude of opportunities allowing them to be more successful with their behavior, social-emotional development, and overall development in my classroom!
