My students struggle with motivation and confidence when working on mathematics. I have requested the Scholastic MATH magazine as a resource for my students, because the magazine provides relevant, world examples of math in action that answers the question, "When am I ever going to use this math?" I have also included a request for Texas Instrument scientific calculators. My students struggle with keeping track of their own calculator. When they lose it, many families struggle to find the resources to replace it. As a result, I need to provide access to the calculator in my classroom. Students generally are more confident and motivated when they have the support of a calculator.
