Our 5th grade classroom is currently working in partnership with California Fish and Wildlife and Central Coast Salmon Enhancement in bringing the “Trout in the Classroom: Resilient Watershed Education” program to my classroom. My students will receive lessons on watershed education, life cycles/energy flow in organisms, and the human impact on ecosystems in addition to raising rainbow trout in our classroom. It is my expectation, through Trout in the Classroom: Resilient Watershed Education, that my students will gain an appreciation of our local watersheds, ecosystems, and their connection to the larger world. Hopefully, this experience will prompt student environmental awareness and potentially inspire educational and vocational pathways.
