My school is located in Jackson Heights Queens. My school is a title one school and has a high immigrant population. The students in my school are wonderful. However we are extremely overcrowded. We are putting in a Pre-K class. We are in a building with more than 800 children. Most of the children receive free lunch in my school. Students do come with all their regular schools supplies but parents in this community have a hard time affording these items. So the parents cannot afford to buy items such as construction paper and craft sticks for their child's class room or for art class. Most of the time,these students have never ever seen or heard of some of the art materials I use with them to create their crafts. The students as well as the parents in the school community are very appreciative of the thing we as educators do for them.
