Flexible seating in the classroom will allow for greater collaboration, enhance communication and help with sensory input. Those are only a few reasons flexible seating is a wonderful choice when considering the needs of busy children. Flexible seating gives the students options and gives them a sense of ownership in the class as well as an outlet for excess energy. When a student feels like they have a stake in the classroom, they take more responsibility and make better choices. This fosters better behavior and a commitment to learning. The reality is more and more children are being diagnosed with ADHD/ADD and flexible seating helps with that diagnosis. They are able to process information better and focus on the task set before them. Lastly, flexible seating is fun! Why can't we have fun while we learn? Flexible seating allows for more active learning and it's engaging. The students will want to go come to school and those who may have a negative outlook regarding school will look forward to coming to class! Flexible seating is a win-win for all involved!
