For young learners, math and science are just an extension of our everyday world. We don’t have to teach young children how to wonder, discover, and explore through play because they do it naturally. Our project is focused on enriching the subjects of math and science in our preschool classroom. We are asking for materials such as measuring cups, a balance, a microscope, a cash register, and magnets as well as mathematical games and activities. These will help us build a very important foundation for the rest of their schooling. The items we are asking for allow our students to learn and practice these concepts in a hands-on and interactive way during free choice and small group times. Some of the items also tie in literacy, art, and sensory so that we can create a balanced and integrated curriculum that includes all subjects. The materials in this project will benefit the students in our class this year and for years to come.
