Engineering Week starts on February 21st and I plan to take my high school students to the middle schools in my district to host STEM competitions and demonstrations. My students are in groups and they have been researching projects. So far we have one project where middle schoolers will construct "boats" using tin foil using a measured amount of materials and the group who created the strongest boat will win a prize. Another group decided to host a competition where students are given a measured amount of graham crackers and icing and the goal is to create the tallest/strongest structure. Their structure will be tested using either a phone on vibrate or an actual earthquake simulator. I still have some groups who haven't decided on a project so this list will be updated. Currently we are in need of foil, toothpicks, graham crackers, cake icing, sandwich bags, paper plates, plastic knives, and bags of assorted wrapped candy for prizes. Thanks in advance, I honestly appreciate any help we receive no donation is too small!
