I would like to get a classroom nonfiction library. I am going to start inquiry learning in my classroom and in order to do that I want students to have access to more than just the internet. Students will be conducting research on a question that they are curious about. These text will help them to find answers to those questions. They will read and synthesize the information and then will be required to present their information in a type of format that they choose such as a poster, google slides, a model, an essay etc... I plan to add all types of nonfiction texts to my classroom. Access to National Geographic Explorer, Ranger Rick etc will allow my students to find information on a variety of topics that excite their curiosity. The project also funds magazine holders to organize the texts into subjects. My students will be using these text on a daily basis. What is exciting about that is they will be working on reading and writing skills but they will be doing it with text that they are excited about and interested in. The nonfiction access we currently have in our school is extremely limited and very outdated. These resources would allow access for my students to text that is rich in vocabulary, infographics, and color.
