We need more books in our classroom library! My first graders select books from that library to keep in their book bags so they can read throughout the day. There is not enough variety of both fiction and non-fiction books at different reading levels in the current selection. The struggling readers need quality books at their level so they can feel successful. The gifted readers need books that challenge them. Adding more books from the DonorsChoose grant will enable the students to find books that meet their needs and interests. A good book can spark curiosity and wonder in students and instill a lifelong love of reading. So it important that I provide books in the classroom library that inspire students to make connections, ask questions, and make predictions.
