Our classroom is a family that consists of 42 eager to learn ESL kindergarten students in a Title I school in Houston, Texas, in which all of the students receive free lunch. The majority of my students come from single-parent households, in which they struggle to make ends meet. However, despite their difficulties, they always come into our classroom with smiles and ready to learn. I want to provide my students with unique learning experiences in and out of the classroom that they can carry through life. Many of my students and their families were affected by hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make them feel welcomed and safe in my classroom. I also want them to to feel like their life will get back to normal after such a tragic event.
