When students enter my classroom, I want them to know immediately that they are in a fun, positive, and creative place. I love to welcome students on the first day of class and hear them say OOH! as they take in all of the special touches: tables in the colors of the rainbow, with origami cranes of corresponding colors flying over each table; dragon kites swooping across the ceiling; rows of furniture arranged stadium-style so that everyone has a great view of instruction. The stadium-style arrangement of my room has been a big hit, but the thrift shop stools and discount store chairs I've bought to fit the raised and lowered tables haven't met the demands of rough-and-tumble adolescents. In order to keep this fun and functional classroom arrangement in place, I need new stools and chairs to replace the items in disrepair. My school only provides one style of chair, which is too short for my tall tables and slightly cramped for my low tables. I cannot personally afford to buy the sturdy furniture my kids need. I would greatly appreciate donations of bar stools and chairs in the colors of my classroom to really bring my idea of the perfect art room set-up to fruition. The barstools (in yellow and purple) and short chairs (in red and green) are the most-needed items, but it would be awesome to complete the set with the average-sized chairs for my orange and blue tables, too. My art students, Future Problem Solvers, and Green Team kids would enjoy these donations for years to come!
