The items requested for this project will assist in building up some of the learning centers during our Daily 5 (Literacy) and Daily 3 (Math) rotations. I am asking for items my students can use and navigate independently, as well as items to assist in the overall flow of the classroom during their independent center time. The items focus on building reading and math skills. Reading is so fundamental in the success of our students and the purpose of this project is to improve my students reading ability and set the foundation to create strong readers. The complete set of First Little Readers will allow my students to use these leveled readers to practice reading using their sight words and the sounding out of small words, as they are in the beginning stages of learning to read. The Pop and Match Beginning Phonics Games will let students work independently during literacy centers, working on phonemic skills in the form of different games. CVC Word Work Center will focus on 3-letter words for the students who are not ready to move onto more complex words, allowing for differentiated practice as they master sounding out CVC words. The Lakeshore Magic Boards and Magic Board Printing Practice Cards will help students to independently practice their handwriting - free write or structured writing with the use of the Practice Cards, as they focus on different letters. The Practice Cards also come with pictures, so the students are able to familiarize themselves with the letter sounds on each card. The All About Letters Pocket Chart provides additional daily reinforcement for each letter, assisting the students with mastering each one.
