My students are a diverse bunch that reside in a poverty stricken area with big dreams and hope for more. My campus was affected by hurricane Harvey. Due to damages we started school two weeks late on August the 25th with extended school hours. My kids are excited as every to be back in class as it is a sense of normalcy in the midst of everything else that's going on in our city of Houston, TX. My project idea is inspired by teaching environmental science. I too would like to expand and engage my students' learning beyond the classroom to include other areas around the world, their home, their lives, and their community. My students are ready and excited to learn. This project will help students realize that everyone cares about improving our students' academic success.
