Creating a peaceful classroom atmosphere is very important to me. A classroom is like a second home. Students should feel safe and comfortable in their work space. This year, I have implemented flexible seating. I removed most of the traditional desks seen in most classrooms. I have tried to provide my students with comfortable and various seating choices that will work for them. I started this project with fluffy pillows, home-made benches, scoop rockers, and soft rugs. Students pick the best spot for them. This project not only promotes choice and responsibility, but it also engages students in their learning.
