The use of calculators is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with calculators for guided practice and to check their work. The calculators allow the students to check their work and to insure their mathematical computations are correct. Since there are only a few calculators in the classroom because they are being borrowed from the next room, students need to share and wait to check their work. Time is being wasted because they need to move around to look for calculators and ask if the student is done using the 5 calculators they share among 25 students in class. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.Every day it is a challenge to walk next door and ask for 5 calculators that we can use. By having 25 TI-36X Pro Calculators in the classroom, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning! These calculators can stay in the class and can be used for the next 4 periods of students. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether they have to wait and search for a calculator. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
