My emerging readers need a listening center so they can continue to build stamina in reading. Our school has made a promise to parents that our students will be reading by the end of second grade. I take this responsibility very seriously and I need the materials to help support that initiative. With a listening center, my students will have access to hearing stories when I am working with other small groups. This will build their independence as learners. Additionally, this center will help improve their listening skills as well. I am so excited by the idea that my students could be afforded the opportunity to have a listening center in their daily rotation that will provide them with meaningful learning experiences every day.
