The room dividers will help me structure the open space so that students can have an area away from their peers when they are upset and need to calm down. The room I am in is an open space classroom and students can become more sad/angry from each other by even looking at them when they are upset. I also need the rocking chairs in order for the students to use them in order to self soothe when they are anxious or sad. I work with a lot of students that have experienced trauma and they need breaks in my space in order to be successful during an entire school day. The stress balls are great for the students to squeeze and limits their destruction of property while teaching them a more positive self-regulation strategy. The spiky rings give them tactile input on their hands and again help them reduce their destruction to property.
