My students come to me having significant impairments in auditory and visual processing coupled with issues in short-term and long-term memory. The impairments adversely impact their ability to access the grade level curriculum in a number of ways. The majority of the students are performing more than two years below grade level in reading and math.
I use a combination of whole group, small group, and independent practice to address the varying needs of my students. For whole and small group instruction, I do have access to a projector that allows me to engage students in review activities as well as model a skill. The Chromebooks, which would be located in a designated area in my room, would be used to provide students with opportunities for collaborative and personalized learning. Students in need of review or enrichment would be given assignments from IXL, Mobymax, or Google Classroom to address their individual needs. The Chromebooks will also be used to facilate opportunities for students to engage in collaborative activities that involve discussion, research, and writing.Given my students' love for technology, the use of Chromebooks in instruction will expand the way that they engage with the curriculum.
