We will use these texts for research topics and assist in literacy with making text-to-self connections. Students will research a career and make a connection to an historical figure and reflect on how they view themselves, approach and solve problems, and handle tough situations. They deserve a rich library. There are a variety of texts, such as fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction, biographies, autobiographies, realistic fiction, as well as texts related to social emotional learning. These books will help my students understand how to handle tough times and overcome obstacles as they relate to other young people who share similar backgrounds.
