A garden offers a plethora of learning opportunities. Science, math, and reading are particularly evident as we engage in planning, plotting, measuring, and maintaining the healthy lives of emerging seedlings. With your help, we'll be able to witness food scraps being converted to vermicompost, a natural fertilizer that will enrich our garden soil and provide our seedlings with a healthy start. Students will also engage in measurement in order to maximize space, quantity, time, and yield. Our rain gauge will provide us with data that will assist us in maintaining our plants' water needs, and our outdoor thermometer will allow us to chart the temperature. Ultimately, upper grade students will be able to compare the cost of growing some of our own fruits and vegetables with the retail costs in stores. You can see, the learning opportunities that your grant funding will provide...are limitless! In light of our district's vision, "APS CLL Grow. Lead. Transform," we are aiming to do just that.
