My students are with me for 2 hours out of their 6 hour day. Together we study English Language Arts, and U.S. History. I want to make these subjects come alive for them! I am hoping to get 5 chromebooks and the laptop into my classroom so that my students can have access to multiple sources, other than the textbooks and reading materials that they engage with from the district. I am requesting these items because I would love to do collaborative group projects in which the students will make words on a page come to life in movie/video/song form. My students are outgoing and creative. With project options like recreating scenes from history with historical accuracy, writing songs, or composing raps and then being able to burn them to a disc and take them home to share, my kids would be over the moon! The elementary schools that they attended have very involved and generous PTA communities that allowed the students to almost have 1 to 1 access to chromebooks, and the high school that they will be attending has 1 to 1 devices. However, at my middle school, the availability of technology is lacking. I want my students to have access to technology, online resources, and learn how to effectively use technology in a safe way through practice and application.
