The math and science department at our school would like to start a new class that would teach our 7th and 8th graders how to build, maintain, and code using a Kano Raspberry pi based computer. These simplistic computers are used to show the fundamentals of what technology is and demystify what is involved in their operation. The basics involved with programming software are the same key ideals we have in math and science. We want our students to be able to structure ideas so they can find solutions, address mistakes and come up with a process for achieving a goal. The beauty of the Kano system is that anyone can use it, and with the right guidance, foster a love and drive to accomplish more than what they do at school. This will change our students’ lives by helping them to set goals, plan actions that will help them achieve those goals and be confident in their abilities.
