Every night, when we go to sleep, we crawl into our beds and cuddle up in blankets. While all of our students are loved and adored, we have a duty to our scholars to ensure that all of their needs are met. Over the summer, the network was able to provide families with groceries if needed, but with cold weather coming right around the corner, and students at home due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we want to make sure that our students are safe and warm for the winter. As a team, we wanted to do something special for those who are in need by creating No Sew Blankets as a small gesture of our school’s heartbeat. Every teacher knows about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs--the first and most important needs to be met are physiological needs-food, water, shelter--and by proxy warmth. By making No-Sew Blankets, we can help ensure that our students' needs are being met so that they can focus on the things kids should be focusing on--learning, growing, and playing. With these blankets, our students will be able to sleep soundly, allowing them to grow more, remember more information, and be rested for more days full of learning, engagement, and play. These blankets are more than just blankets; due to their handmade and assembled nature, they will have a token of love and affection in each one from our teachers. Our students will know that, even from across a computer screen, that their teachers care about them and their well-being.
