Imagine sitting on a cold, hard, metal chairs for several hours a day. I do not have to imagine, I remember how these chairs felt. These chairs are the same chairs I sat in 30 year ago. I would like to provide my students with options to choose their seating preferences to avoid the discomfort, distraction, or disengagement. Our school has implemented the blending learning model, which allows students to work around the room to accomplish their individual learning. By providing a preference in seating, it will help students to personalize their individual learning environment. Researcher, Herman Miller, in a study from 2008 found "giving people some control over their surroundings adds to their sense of well-being.” Studies continue to show that classroom design encourages engagement in student learning. The supplies I'm requesting will increase students overall well being by giving them choices. Wobble chairs and cushions are the beginning of my continued desire to improve my students' learning and engagement. Thank you so much for your consideration!
