Fostering a love of reading and writing is essential in the primary grades. My classroom library is stocked with a wide variety of literature to allow students to chose books they find interesting and enjoy reading. We practice writing daily. Being uncomfortable at a desk when reading and writing is unhealthy and does not improve attention and work ethic. My proposed project is to obtain the funds to purchase pillows, comfy chairs, scoop chairs, bouncy bands, and lap desks. This will give students CHOICE to find a place they can sit and do their best reading and writing. This will allow students to focus, be committed to their own learning, and have a positive attitude about school.
