Our classroom has tables vs. desks. Color coded seat sacks will provide an environment of structure and organization. My eager to learn students can keep their leveled readers, math and reading journals, and tools for learning organized and readily accessible. Organization is a key skill for them for college and career readiness. Having 4 different seat sack colors at each table ensures easy selection of leaders. For example, I can tell "Yellow" table captains to get supplies for their table, or "Red" scientists start the experiment, or "Blue's" to tell their table what they learned about in reading today. Every student gets a turn to participate or lead, thus creating a student centered learning environment. According to our last fire marshall visit, teachers must be able to prove that any material in our classroom is fire resistant. These seat sacks are made out of flame retardant material. They are also elastic 12-17 inches to fit a variety of chair sizes and to easily hold multiple items without ripping. I know that having seat sacks as an organizational tool will really help learning to happen best for my Kinders! We have 2 computers in our classroom and typically 4 students go to a station at one time. An iPad will complete our technology station thus enabling more students to learn globally and enabling me to work in depth with the students who need it most.
