Students of poverty or those who have experienced loss in their lives often lack the basic foundational needs. How can they live healthy lives without the proper attire. Having new shoes that fit properly will increase motivation to participate in fitness and give them self esteem as they attempt to fit in with their peers. Students who are given used shoes can develop issues with balance and growth patterns when their footwear doesn't fit properly. In addition, they can withdraw from activity and lack confidence when they may actually be gifted athletes. A new pair of shoes that fit will boost self esteem and provide a level playing field in the right direction of a healthy lifestyle.
