This year, we have been lucky enough to receive the new HMH Read 180 and System 44 reading curriculum and have been amazed at the level of engagement and growth. One of the most important aspects of the program is the technological component, which allows students a chance for true independent work while filling the gaps in their foundational reading skills. We've seen students who've never received a score on a reading placement test grow hundreds of points in Lexile level this year! Students are engaged with high interest and supportive reading material. Parents are excited by their students' conversations and ability to share what they've been learning about... even if it occasionally involves parasites! Unfortunately, it's been difficult to find quality headphones to use along with the program. I've bought multiple classroom sets this year in addition to what the school has been able to supply. I want to give the students their best shot at maximum growth and will utilize the headphones with microphones in order to limit outside distractions, increase reliable feedback of recordings and decrease interruptions to learning due to issues with equipment. I am requesting a class set of Headsets with Microphones to help us meet our goals.
