By having a classroom carpet with enough room for every student, we are able to come together as a community each day and learn. In my second grade classroom, we spend many parts of our day learning and talking with one another at the carpet. From reading stories and learning reading strategies during Reading Workshop to discussing a new math concept, we use the carpet as a safe place to learn together and listen to one another. The carpet we currently use in my classroom has endured almost 8 years of love and is on its way out. By contributing to my class project today, you will be providing my students with a new, comfortable and safe place to meet each day. We are also in need of good quality headphones for our computer center. I have 6 student computers in my classroom that get used each and every day. It is important to incorporate technology into my students' learning and we use the computers each day as a math and reading center. By contributing to my class project, you will be providing my class with headphones to use at the computer so that the noise level isn't distracting to others in the class who aren't working on the computers, and so that the students who are using the technology can focus on their own computer and take advantage of their learning at that time. Simple items such as chart paper are also a real necessity in my classroom and because our school budget is much lower than past years, I have been having to spend my own money for many items such as this that are used frequently and need to be replaced frequently. I use chart paper every day in my instruction and would appreciate your help!
