As all young students do, my students learn through play! During dramatic play in the house area children learn to communicate with each other in an imaginative way. My children pretend to wash the dishes, prepare food and care for their "pretend" home. They take care of the household chores. The household materials will be utilized daily. These materials will help their learning by supporting real life experiences that many of them are not able to have at home. The refrigerator, stove, table and chairs, hutch and sink will go right in the front of the classroom. These dramatic play items will greet and invite all the children when they walk through the door to come right over and play. The pretend food will be used in two ways. The first way is it will be located in our house area to compliment the kitchen. The second way it will be utilized is during small group time to explain and teach children what healthy foods look like and the benefit of eating them. This will create a positive learning experience that my students need. Our current items are old, have broken pieces, missing parts and chipped wood. I would love to update this area for the children to benefit their preschool experience.
