I love teaching 2D Art & Design! Unfortunately, when it comes to budgeting, the school doesn't focus on the art portion as heavily as the design, and the supply budget gets cut dramatically. The art teachers' budget is almost four times as much. I want my students to be able to test out and use the various 2D art media, so that they can find their talent and emphasize it in the 4-year design pathway I teach. As the students become more advanced, they are able to dive deep into their strengths (fine art and digital skills), to create a college-level portfolio for the AP exam and beyond. My budget, now, allows me the lowest caliber and the minimum amount of classroom fine art supplies. When it comes to a finished masterpiece, the quality of materials used matters. Also, most of my students cannot afford to buy their own art supplies, so a high-caliber materials experience, in the classroom would not only support them, but make them feel like true artists and designers. I hope to inspire my students half as much as they inspire me, and with your support, we can make them feel like true artists! Thank you, Ms. Rendon
