A projector in my classroom will provide an opportunity for my students to learn from a new perspective. Even in a low-income area kids have experienced technology from gaming systems to smart phones with little thought of how technology can have great effects on learning. It is common knowledge that everyone learns differently; this projector will enable me to reach those unique learning styles and help students reach their full potential. If you have ever had the opportunity to experience the delight of kindergarten students, you understand that anything and everything can become a distraction. In the imagination of a 5-year-old anything with 4 wheels can become a “race car” at any moment. While I always promote creativity in my classroom, something as simple as hanging a projector from my ceiling rather than rolling it around on a cart (race car) can help differentiate learning time from playtime. Focus is a hard thing to come by in a kindergarten class, and when I have it, it is important to take advantage.
