Recently I took a class on Journal Fodder Junkies by professional artist Eric Scott. I absolutely fell in love with his ideas and recording his life and thoughts in an art journal and I would love to have my students start their own journal. Students need to write more to prepare for their future and marrying the concepts of writing and art could be a way to get them writing their thoughts down, organizing their thoughts, and recording important experiences. This money would go to buying students their own hardbound journal and pen, I already have many painting and art supplies but not enough pens for them to keep to write when they want outside of my classroom. I want students to fall in love with writing as well as fall in love with enjoying creating art, not for other people but for the purpose of creating and enjoying what they are doing for themselves.
