As a school counselor I serve multiple grade levels in our school. We have many students who struggle with emotional regulation often due to some trauma they have experienced. This project will benefit the emotional health of our students as we teach mindfulness through books and activities. The materials will allow us to use storybooks, such as Sitting Still Like a Frog, Listening to My Body and Steps and Stones during whole group lessons that I teach. The Mindfulness for Kids and the deck of Yoga and Mindfulness cards will also be used by me for whole group lessons or by classroom teachers during their morning meetings. The Mindfulness Matters game will be used for smaller groups within the classroom as part of centers and during groups with me, the counselor. All of these materials will help teach and strengthen emotional regulations all students need to possess to be successful. As we strive to give all students the skills they need for emotional regulation we will touch the most needy. We are striving to be trauma informed in our school and this project will help as we work on this goal.
