Here in beautiful Florida, we have outside recess everyday. We have playground equipment (swings, monkey bars etc.) but no balls or jump ropes and such. In this "video game generation" children haven't learned the value of playing together nicely. They are overly competitive and prone to accuse someone of cheating if they are not winning. They need practice playing and cooperation so when they grow up they can work cooperatively. If we could get them into the habit of running and playing maybe they will be more inclined to playing outside at home and grow into an active, healthy adult.
