The materials that I am requesting for my classroom are a mere way of creating comfortable spaces for students to learn comfortably, and hopefully with their peers. The rug is so that my students have a nice, comfortable place to lay out and read a book and discuss it with friends. The kidney table is great place for centers and STEM experiments! Plus it is a wonderful place to revisit lessons that students have not quite mastered. In small groups, they can also teach each other. The large whiteboard we desperately need so students can come up and do work simultaneously and do not have to be hindered by waiting their turn on the Smartboard. We also need it for those days the Smartboard is just not working, and we do not want to be held back by the unavailable technology! My students need comfortable spaces where they can experiment and share their ideas! Ways in which I am not the ONLY teacher, but they too can be teachers, (and scientists, and colleagues and engineers, etc.)!
