Our classroom will be participating in the program Trout in the Classroom. We will be hatching and raising Trout in an aquarium set. My class will be doing a STEAM project raising Trout and releasing them into the wild. We will be learning about the life cycle of Trout including their diet, habitat, adaptations and needs. Students will be observe and record data, think about the migration of the fish and engineer solutions that solve problems that hinder their migration, write about Trout, and create art projects involving Trout and their habitat. After raising and studying the trout for 8 weeks, we will take a field trip to release our Trout into the wild. Having a tank in our classroom where students can watch the hatching and development of the fish will spark curiosity and engage students in their learning.
